The French pub “le St.Jacques” in Cognac

More than a simple bistro, even more than a simple place to eat, in the heart of historic Cognac, this establishment offers you all the charm and friendliness of nautical stopovers of the edges of la Charente River.

While sipping a good ale, a lager or a “café” on the terrace, you faced with the beautiful “place du Solençon”, shaded by ancient plane trees, which shape, until the river, a kind of mall, enlivened every Saturday by a traditional fruits & vegetables market, and, every third Sunday, by an organic market.

Did “le St. Jacques” used to be a halting-place for the pilgrims on their way to Compostelle? No one knows for sure. Whatever the truth, for sure, the place deserves to be discovered less as a pilgrim than as a passenger well informed of what tastes good.
The boss, Colin Blanchard was born and educated in Great-Britain. Nadine Constantin, his partner, was born in the Charente region, she represents the heart and soul of this French Café, that a few British passengers have already discover and appreciate.
Besides, both of them speak fluently French & English.

Inside the pub or on the terrace, they offer you a simple and varied menu : different flavours of the county Saintongeais conducted with a wine list which would not deny the best of the wine stewards.

Le St. Jacques? Welcome on board!
